Groundbreaking

On Sunday, August 2nd, at 10:00 a.m., about 25 members and friends of Grace Church gathered to praise our wonderful God, read a few Scriptures, share some thoughts and testimonies, and stick a few shovels in the dirt to commemorate the impending construction of the new building the Lord has provided for us.

You can track the progress here or on the Grace Church of South Park page on Facebook.

Building Update

Building Project Physical Address:6259 County Road 35
Jefferson, CO 80456

Construction is underway and we are still on track for an April or May completion date.

You can check out the initial set of drawings from our architect if you like but the final drawings are slightly different.

As God prompts you, please continue to contribute to our Building Fund. We will stick to our commitment to build debt-free and we have scaled things back quite a bit to follow through with this commitment. The building is being designed with expansion in mind so as God provides and the need arises we will add on. At this point we are investigating doing some of the finish work ourselves to bring this project in under budget. We also need to have funds available for estimated monthly expenses that will be incurred with operating a building of this size. We know God has and will continue to provide but we also know He requires us to be good stewards and to plan ahead - always leaving room for Him to have the final say and to re-direct us as needed.

Pastor Al in the Big Rig!

The Beginning of the Story of God's Provision for Grace Church

When Grace Church started down the road of seeking a permanent home we simply trusted that God would provide in His timing. We sought out the local landowners to attempt to purchase 5-10 acres of land. We initially thought that piece would take a few years to pay off if we could even find someone willing to sell. God had other plans when a local landowner donated 39 acres to the church! See the Land

We then began looking at layouts for a building and started estimating how much it would cost to put up a structure that gave us room to grow but did not go overboard. We came to an initial estimate of about $500,000 to accomplish the goal but really did not have a good estimate. When we looked at how much of a monthly payment would be required to the bank for a loan of half that amount, we knew it would be difficult if not impossible to handle for a church 3-4 times our current attendance; and so much of God's money would be wasted on interest payments. It was determined then that we would wait on God to provide the needed funds even if it took ten years or more.

An email campaign was started called the $5 Church (see below) where $5 donations are solicited across the nation through the spreading of an email outlining our desire to build a church ministry center without saddling the church with a load of debt. About $22,000 was collected through this campaign. A great amount for such a campaign and for such a small congregation, but it was obviously going to take a long time to raise what we needed at this pace. But again, we were content to wait on the Lord for as long as it took in order to do things according to His timing.

Apparently the Lord's time table was much shorter! We had a single donation of $500,000 to this project from a couple who had only attended one service! So your opportunity to contribute to this cause, and to experience God's blessing for your faithfulness in this regard, is now!

See below under the heading, "The $5 Church," for our mailing address and alternate methods to donate. God is indeed awesome! Praise Him for all He has done and all He is about to do! And thank you for your prayers and your contributions!

The $5 Church

In December of 2006 we started a campaign through email asking folks to pray for Grace Church, to forward a simple email to all their Christian friends and family, and to donate $5 toward our goal of building our new ministry center debt-free. If you did not receive the original email and would like to, send an email to PastorAl@garcesp.org and a copy will be sent to you.

We received checks in the mail and online donations from all over the country. Praise God!

Amount collected for our Building Fund (including interest earned and funds already disbursed) is approximately $562,278 as of 12/31/09.

We are still committed to only build and furnish what we can pay for without going into debt. We continue to totally trust in our awesome God to direct our thoughts and provide the funds needed as He desires and wills.
